Home storage brings direct responsibility
You control access, but you also need to think about security and appropriate insurance. Do not assume a standard household policy covers the full value of bullion. Discuss limits and conditions privately with an insurer. Avoid sharing photographs, addresses or details that reveal where valuable items are kept.
Understand a custody arrangement
Ask who the custodian is, what legal ownership you have and whether holdings are specifically allocated. Request the written terms, inventory process and any audit arrangements. A general statement that an item is in a vault does not answer how your ownership would be established or how disputes would be handled.
Price the complete service
Establish recurring storage fees, minimum charges, insurance scope and exclusions, and the cost of withdrawal or delivery. Ask how valuation changes affect charges and cover. Confirm how you can access or sell the holding and what documentation, notice periods or identity checks apply.
Keep the record separate
Maintain invoices, item details and custody statements securely. Consider how an authorised representative would locate the documentation if necessary, without exposing sensitive access information. Rosebud’s storage and delivery page explains the questions to raise; specific arrangements must be confirmed in writing before a purchase.
